Tim Round 3 & 4

Seriously addicted....yes I could sit and listen to Tim Holtz I think forever....it just blows my mind all the ideas that just spill out of him....he said yesterday that he wishes at times that he could just turn it off and let his mind be quiet for a little bit.  What a great thing to those of us that just can't look at something and come up with a half a dozen things to do with it.  I took two of his classes from Scrapbooks, Etc. yesterday and again I was not disappointed.  Words and Windows was the first class and I acutally created my first acrylic album with Prima transparencies and Hambly transparencies.....the Prima transparencies we used alcohol inks....as paints - yes I know - you did what???  We used water brushes and dry alcohol inks and we could make the colors as brilliant or as muted as you desired and it was so forgiving.....one of the best things....if you get done and don't like it just wipe it off......on the Hambly's you can paint on them but you can't linger...we used paint daubers for these and just added some color all over the sheet.  My book obviously isn't done but here are a few pictures...... this is what it looks like while it is closed.....and here is a picture of the Prima transparency.....

Now isn't that awesome....the possibilities are endless.....aren't they Ann......the second class was Distress A Palooza....I am sure that most of you have seen this on Tim's website and maybe several others because they created these at CHA and it opens your eyes to a whole new way to use Distress Ink, Distress Embossing Powder & Crackle Paint.....such a great way to have fun and get messy.  This is a mirror frame and I decided to have Tim sign the mirror instead of the back......I could see making a bunch of these - we used chipboard and fragments and of course all of his cool little stuff that he finds all over the place.....

I know that this might not be a style that everyone likes but it was such a fun project.

I also finished my Creative Escape page swap pages last night so those will be hitting the mail in the next week.....

Well I've got several other projects to finish so I better get going...have a great Sunday and if you are lucky enough to have tomorrow off...don't forget that it isn't just a day off - take a minute and remember all of those that have and are fighting for our Country.

{ONE RAINY DAY}

Well today is May 23rd - we have just had a week that started out at 110 degrees....please usually we are only at about 95 and that is bad enough leading up to our wonderful summer but today I don't have the "actual" temperature but my car coming home today at 2:00 p.m. showed 65 degrees....woo hoo Winter is back....if only for a couple of days....so nice to have the doors open and feel the cool air...tonight right after we got home this is what our backyard looked like.....

a little rain happening nothing big....just making it so we didn't need to have the sprinkler system going for a couple of days....next thing we know....this is what is happening....

Really is that hail....you have got to be kidding me right....nope not kidding a bit...it only came down for about 3 minutes but still it was so freakin' kewl to watch it and unfortunately it didn't even stay on the ground all that long.  This weekend is suppose to be pretty nice as far as weather goes - a little rainy but hey when you live in Arizona having rain days is a wonderful thing and we actually look forward to them.....other than the idiots who don't seem to know how to drive in it and that is one thing I really don't get because most of the people who live out here our snow birds........what is up with that!

Anyway I'm planning on enjoying the rain before we hit the high 90's again at the beginning of the week.  Have a great weekend and don't forget to Thank one of our many Military keeping us safe and free this Memorial Day.

FOREVER.......

Can't believe that it has been almost a whole month since I last posted....it seems like it was just yesterday when I came home from Scrap Etc and a whole month has gone by.....incredible.  So it is really true what I was told when I was a kid....time moves faster the older you get....does that really happen or is it that your life just has so much going on it the older you get that it just seems that way?

I know that with keeping up with my Creative Escape commitments (which if I do this next year - someone slap me), work is picking up even more every day, trying and yes I mean trying to find some kind of organization to my scrap room so that I can find and use what I have instead of buying things and finding out after you get home or even months later that you already have that.....I can't believe that I actually opened a bag the other day that had a receipt dated 10/07 - now obviously I had a really great idea when I bought that product but do I still have it - I don't think so.....just not enough hours in the day to get everything done that I want to.....

On a happier note - I get to spend the day with Tim Holtz - if you check out his blog we are taking the Words and Windows class and then I'm staying for another class that is all about his fragments....can hardly wait.....he is such an awesome instructor.  It is also a 3 day weekend so I'm gonna scrap on Sunday and then spend the day trying to figure out what to do with my room.

This little precious dog we found out this week has Cushings Disease which is a tumor on her pituitary or adrenal gland so she is on medicine for a week twice a day and then she will go back and be retested to make sure the medicine is being effective and then she will need to have it twice a week for the rest of her life.  Funny thing is that she doesn't have a lot of the symptoms that you would recognize....the only thing that she really does is pants A LOT!  I did notice the other day that part of her coat was pretty dull which is unusual for her as well.  This all started when we took her in to have her teeth cleaned and have a little mole type thing taken off the top of her head and while she was under they couldn't get her blood pressure under control....leading them to believe that she had high blood pressure.....we had her on medicine for that for a month and then had to take her back to be retested which believe it or not they check dogs blood pressure the same way that they take it from us....they put a little bp cuff on her and after doing 4 takes (they do the reading several times on dogs to be able to have an average) it never came down below 197/90 and dogs bp should be the same as ours.  I brought up testing for Cushings because unlike humans dogs don't get high blood pressure over being stressed - there is usually an underlying cause.....Cushings is one.  So hopefully this will keep it under control and she will not have any other problems.

I'm sure I have more to talk about but we will just save it for another time.  Gotta go watch CSI-NY
